    The Kreydenweiss family, free and visionary

    THEDomaine Marc Kreydenweissis first and foremost a family story, whose origins go back now13 generationsThis is part of the family history. As early as the 18th century, members of the family cultivated vines in Andlau, Alsace, in addition to operating a mill for the Abbey. The Gresser family, the owners at that time, participated in numerous competitions and received many awards for the quality of their wines.

    In 1945, the daughter ofAlfred GressermarryRené KreydenweissVery quickly, his interest in working in the vineyards and developing sales to individuals began to bring the name to the forefront.KreydenweissThis marked the beginning of the transition. Their son, Marc, took over the estate in 1971. This passionate winemaker brought a thoughtful and forward-thinking vision to the purest expression of his terroir. His primary ambition was to focus on the flourishing of his vineyard in order to produce high-quality grapes.

    Very quickly the question ofbiodynamicsIt becomes clear. Working alongside his son, Manfred, Marc is one of the first to dedicate himself to the principles of biodynamic farming in Alsace. In 1989, Marc also participated in the creation of the Grand Cru appellation in the region.

    In 1999, Marc decided to establish a new estate in the Costières de Nîmes appellation of Languedoc, now managed by his son Jean. In 2008, Marc decided to move fully to the Languedoc estate and entrusted his son Antoine with the management of his first vintage.

    In 2020, the wines signedMarc Kreydenweissare definitely made with grapes exclusively from the estate.

    The ambition and pioneering spirit of the Kreydenweiss family have made them an iconic name in the region. Indeed, this small vineyard, now run by its 13th generation, boasts threeGrand Cru:Kastelberger, Wiebelsberg and MoenchbergThe vines benefit from a very sunny microclimate and incredible geological diversity. Black and blue schist, sandstone, sand, marl, and limestone are all found here. Combined with ancestral know-how passed down through generations and a total respect for the terroir, the wines enjoy a reputation worthy of the very best. Eighty percent of the vineyard is planted on hillsides or semi-hillsides and faces south-southeast.

    The wines are produced according to the principles ofbiodynamicsAlthough these practices were proposed in 1924 by Rudolf Steiner, they were subsequently adopted by, among others,Marc KreydenweissIn the late 1980s, these passionate winemakers' vision was first and foremost to work the land meticulously and respect their terroir as much as possible. They sought harmony between the soil, the vine, and their environment. Production is also carried out according to the earth's and lunar cycles, aiming to follow the most natural rhythm of the vegetation. The estate's wines are intense, incredibly vibrant, and offer a breathtaking aromatic range!
