History of the Estate Domaine des Terres Dorées

the story of Domaine des Terres Dorées

    A family estate

    south of Beaujolais

He is the father ofJean-Paul Brunwho originally owned 4 hectares and delivered his grapes to a cooperative. After leaving the cooperative, he established his own mixed-crop farm. Jean-Paul took it over in 1979, transforming it into a purely wine-producing estate. He has produced wine there more than 30 times since taking it over.

THEGolden Lands vineyardIt now comprises 44 hectares of vines on granite soil, 30 of which are located in the golden soils region surrounding the estate. Among these are 19 hectares ofGamay8 ofChardonnay2 hectares of Pinot Noir and 1 of Roussanne. As for the remaining 14 hectares, they are planted in the finest Beaujolais crus: 5 hectares in Fleurie, 4 in Moulin-à-Vent, 4 in Brouilly and 1 in Morgon. The resulting wines have a truly assertive character.

    Jean-Paul Brun

    meticulous and passionate winemaker

A true pioneerJean-Paul BrunJean-Paul is among the region's finest winemakers, meticulously cultivating his Gamay and Chardonnay grapes. For over 20 years, he has vinified "in the Burgundian style," meaning he destems his grapes completely before pressing and vinifying them with long macerations. Traditional Beaujolais winemaking, on the other hand, uses semi-carbonic maceration on whole bunches. This allows him to produce wines that are easy to drink and have excellent aging potential. As he himself says, "The charm of a great Beaujolais is that you can easily empty a bottle without realizing it." An artist and experimenter, Jean-Paul is constantly evolving his range. He creates new, highly regarded single-vineyard cuvées, in which he places genuine confidence. He imbues his wines with a striking naturalness, conveying the qualities of the Beaujolais terroirs in each of his cuvées. His BeaujolaisThe Old Manis quite appreciable, just like its high-end versionLe Buissy.

    Natural wines

    through respectful methods

The reputation ofBeaujolais NouveauJean-Paul's wines are already well-established, almost overshadowing the rest of his range. The latter, however, is no less interesting, particularly the Moulin-à-Vent. The methods used atDomaine des Terres DoréesThey emphasize respect for the environment, even adopting certain practices from organic farming. In particular, they plow the soil, replace pesticides with copper and sulfur, and harvest their grapes by hand at full maturity. They choose to minimize intervention on the vine from its first bud until harvest. Finally, the grapes ferment with yeasts native to their own terroir, enhancing the wine's authenticity. In a natural style, the resulting wines offer excellent value for money every vintage.
