MORE THAN 200 YEARS OF HISTORY
The history of the Castle begins in the 14th century during the reign ofPrince Edward of Woodstock, known as "The Black Prince". The one whose armor was recognizable above all others on the battlefield, had the building erected that we know today.
The Despagne lineage begins in 1665.Louis DespagneBorn in 1789, and raised amidst the vineyards and the French Revolution, he made the development of his vineyard his ambition. He exponentially increased the cultivated area. However, it wasn't until 1812 that the family settled near the fields where they carried out their sharecropping activities: onthe locality known as CorbinIn the 19th century, winemaking techniques were developed to such an extent that they achieved great renown. In 1954, Château Grand Corbin-Despagne rose to the rank of...Grands Crus Classés.
Today, the seventh generation of the Despagne family is in charge of the estate.François DespagneAfter studying molecular biology, he dedicated himself to perfecting his wine, guided by the same passion as his ancestors.

The region's flagship grape varieties, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, have been cultivated organically since 2010.
