The Bellet appellation is a very small appellation in Provence located in Nice. Very close to the Mercantour and the Bay of Angels, on the left bank of the Var, it offers very good quality reds, whites and rosés.

    Climate

The Bellet appellation enjoys a Mediterranean climate: abundant sunshine, mild temperatures, and sufficient rainfall. The influence of both the sea and the mountains is evident, allowing the wines to develop a lovely freshness. The soils are composed of limestone, sand, and rounded pebbles.

    The wines of the appellation

All three colors are found within the appellation. The grape varieties include Rolle, Roussanne, Spagnol or Mayorquin, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Chardonnay, Pignerol, and Muscat à Petits Grains for the whites. Folle N, Braquet, Cinsault, and Grenache, sometimes complemented by other white grape varieties, make up the reds and rosés.

The white wines reveal lovely floral and citrus notes and develop dried fruit aromas as they age. The rosés are bursting with red fruit and floral notes, and possess an interesting structure. The reds offer generous red fruit flavors and a structure that allows them to age gracefully.

    Food and wine pairings

The wines of the Bellet appellation go wonderfully with Mediterranean dishes: Grilled meats with herbs from Provence, Provençal beef stew, tapenade, tian of sun-ripened vegetables.
