the origin of wine

Located a stone's throw from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in the commune ofSaint-Etienne-du-Grès, THETrévallon estateIt extends over 17 hectares around an old Provençal farmhouse. The vineyard was created from scratch in 1973 using excavators and earthmoving equipment on the northern valley ofAlpillesThe omnipresence of limestone in poor soil imparts atypical characteristics to the Domaine's wines. The vines were planted amidst the garrigue, olive trees, and holm oaks in a virtually innovative agroforestry system. The following grape varieties are planted:

  • SyrahAndCabernet Sauvignon(15 hectares each for red wine),
  • RoussanneAndMarsanne(2 hectares for white wine).

THETrévallon Estateis necessarily associated with the familyDürrbach. It isRené DürrbachThe famous painter and sculptor (a friend of Picasso) bought the estate and began to dream that he had found a terroir for "great wines." It was his sonEloiassisted byFlorianneHis wife, who created the estate from scratch and produced a truly great wine. The estate would later be recognized by the world's leading sommeliers. They are nowOstianeAndAntoinetheir children who take up the torch and continue the family work.

Character & know-how

The vineyard ofTrévallonhas never seen a single pesticide or chemical fertilizer. The exclusive blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon is ultimately just a brilliant reproduction of what was best produced in Provence before the phylloxera epidemic. This deliberate choice by EloiDürrbachThis was accompanied by a downgrading of the wine to IGP Vin des Alpilles. Nevertheless, dedication and exacting standards, combined with precise techniques, have allowed the red and white wines to reach the pinnacle of the hierarchy. Like a Grand Cru Classé, the estate's wines offer avery long guard: upon tasting, one will long remember its fine, velvety structure and itsincomparable length, of hisbouquet of black fruits, ofolivesandProvençal scentsSince the 1996 vintage, and all subsequent vintages, a new label created by René Dürrbach has been presented to highlight the characteristics of the vintage.
