A PASSION FOR VINES SINCE THE 17TH CENTURY
The city ofWesthaltenwelcomes the familyWalledin 1650. From the very beginning, viticulture was their main activity. No fewer than 12 generations succeeded one another in maintaining the vineyard, which continued to expand. In this regard, the year 1935 is particularly significant as it marked the entry of theClos Saint Landelinin the Muré heritage.
This vineyard had been cultivated since its creation by the monks of Landelin. The father ofRené Muré,Oscar, therefore, acquiring it in order to operate it as a monopoly. The cellars were then moved to the city ofRouffachwhere the family also owns a vineyard. In 1976, René Muré took over the estate. In addition to his winemaking activities, he campaigned for the creation of an AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) to protect the quality of wines from Rouffach.
WithVéronique and Thomas MuréToday, it is the twelfth generation of the family that manages the farm.
The vineyard
A VITICULTURE ENHANCED BY A RICH ALSACE TERROIR
It is in Rouffach, south of Colmar, that theRené Muré estate.The 25 hectares of vines extend over a layer of clay-limestone, on a subsoil of calcareous-sandstone. The Vosges Mountains offer excellent protection to the Alsatian vines. Mediterranean influences and heavy rainfall are blocked. In this way, the vineyard benefits from abundant sunshine. All the region's flagship grape varieties are cultivated here.biodynamicsby the Muré family:

BIODYNAMICS TO ENHANCE AN EXCEPTIONAL TERROIR
The turning point towards thebiodynamicsThis took place at the end of the 20th century. From 1999 onwards, theMuré familyIt changed its practices by minimizing its intervention in the vineyard and taking into account astral influences. A few years later, the estate obtained certificationsBiodyvin, Demeter and EcocertThe vines are pruned using the Guyot method, either single or double, and the plants are planted very close together. This allows the vine's roots to grow deep. The berries are then more concentrated, revealing all the characteristics of the terroir. All types of wine are produced on the estate. From Crémant d'Alsace and Grands Crus to late harvest wines and Sélection de Grains Nobles, every wine lover will find something to their liking.
