Guiraud the avant-garde

THEChâteau Guiraud estatewas originally called “Noble House of Bayle"and it was only well after the acquisition of the property byPierre Guiraudthat its name changed. From that time (from 1776), Château Guiraud was already beginning to break free from traditions. In a Sauternes region that was rather Catholic and royalist, its Protestant heritage and republican spirit had always set it apart.Château GuiraudIt also broke with tradition through its label design. Indeed, the style adopted contrasted sharply with the prevailing trends of the time: the use of black and gold, non-calligraphic lettering, and a style bordering on austerity. This independence is also reflected in its winemaking methods, which differed from those practiced in the rest of Sauternes. This originality seems to have paid off, as in just three generations this 128-hectare vineyard has become a prestigious Grand Cru. It has, in fact, been awardedPremier Grand Cruin the imperial classification of 1855. Today this avant-garde spirit is still present and the owners of Guiraud (Peugeot, Bernard, Von Neipperg and Planty) remain faithful to this well-defined philosophy.
