          The history of Château Laroze

          Property of the Meslin family

          THEChâteau Larozewas founded by Mr. and Mrs.Georges GurchyIn 1610, the familyGurchywas a producer of Saint-Émilion wine.Mazerat.

          In 1882 and 1883, Mr. and Mrs.Georges GurchyThey created a 15-hectare vineyard by combining 3 small properties. It was in 1885 that they decided to begin construction of theChâteau LarozeLater, their sonMauricewill succeed them, as well as their little girlAndrée.

          Georges, the son ofAndréeHe remained at the head of the property for 40 years; he was the one who clearly ensured its development and gave it his name:LarozeThanks to the efforts made byGeorgesand its predecessors, the Château obtained its first major award in 1955. The quality of the wines as well as the geographical location of the vineyard allowed the Château to obtain the Grand Cru Classé designation (still held today).

          In 1990,Guy Meslin(son ofGeorges) succeeds his father, he continues to this day to make theChâteau Laroze.

          Located inSaint Emilion, the vineyard ofChâteau Larozeextends over 27 hectares of vineyards.Guy Meslinis truly keen to promote its magnificent local area. At the foot ofSaint-EmilionThe Château's vines are planted on siliceous and clay-limestone soils.Guy MeslinWine is an art, a means of self-expression. Supported by a highly motivated team, he crafts wines of exceptional quality year after year. The terroir, ideal for the flourishing of Cabernet Franc, allows the Château to produce rich, flavorful, elegant, and luscious wines. The familyMeslinmade the choice to exclude herbicides and to favour organic amendments, with the aim of promoting the natural penetration of roots into the soil.

          From earth to glass

          THEChâteau LarozeHarvesting is done exclusively by hand, and the grapes are then efficiently sorted using a highly innovative machine. The wines are subsequently vinified in stainless steel tanks and then aged in oak barrels (half of which are new) for approximately 16 months. The dominant grape variety is...merlotnext comes thecabernet francand thecabernet sauvignon.
