History of the Estate Château Latour in Pomerol

the story of Château Latour in Pomerol

A beautiful story for a great wine

SINCE THE 18TH CENTURY

Two stories meet atChâteau Latour de PomerolThe estate takes its name from the tower located on the property. Built in the 18th century by the Chambaud family, the château's winemaking activity was only developed with the arrival of the Garitey family. Bound by the sacred bonds of marriage in 1875, it was Madame Loubat who inherited the property in 1917. She was dedicated to expanding the vineyard and acquired numerous plots of land on the plateau. Upon her death, the Château was bequeathed toLily Lacoste-Loubatfamous in particular for owning Château Pétrus. More of an artist than a winemaker, she allowed the Jean-Pierre Moueix establishments to lease the vineyard from 1962.

The Moueix familyJean-Pierre Moueix took his first steps in the Bordeaux wine industry in 1937. Leaving his native Corrèze, he began a wine trading business. He quickly acquired vineyards and started producing wine there in 1950. His son Christian and grandson Jean-François succeeded him. Jean-Pierre Moueix passed away in 2003, leaving a rich legacy to the generations that followed. All are connected by thepassionwhich allows them to enhance each of the 20 prestigious vintages they possess today.
