    The origins of Château Le Boscq

    A love story between an estate and men

    The story ofChâteau Le Boscqbegins in1749during the conquest of the Médoc vineyards. At that time, Thomas Barton became the tenant farmer of Château Le Boscq for 30 years and raised the Château's wines to the rank ofCru Classéestablished by several 18th-century classifications. Then, at the end of the 19th century, the property passed to Jean Grazilhon, whose father worked as a steward for Thomas Barton. The splendid château we know today was built in 1891. For over 30 years, he maintained and developed the estate. The efforts made over all these years by successive owners were rewarded in 1932 with the recognition of Château Le Boscq as aCru BourgeoisAt that time, the wines produced at the château were transported in barrels to...bargesall the way to the port of Bordeaux. The current label of the estate's wines pays homage to this era. Indeed, a barge appears on it as a symbol of the property.

    From1995and even today, Château Le Boscq belongs toDourthe group, also owner of Château La Garde and Château Reysson.

The latter is equipped with a very spacious fermentation room and a state-of-the-art grape reception system. The grapes are sorted by hand on a vibrating table, and a light destemming is performed. To preserve the quality of the berries, the estate uses no pumps! The juices arevinified by plotin small stainless steel tanks. Aging takes place in oak barrels, 15% of which are new, for 12 to 14 months in separate batches until the time of blending.
