The Pic-Saint-Loup appellationis one of the last to have been created in France. Long considered a village ofCoteaux du Languedoc, the superb terroir finally obtains the title ofAOCin its own right and produces wines of great finesse.Clos Marieproudly represents the appellation with its numerous vintages of exceptional quality. The name of “Clos Marie" comes from Françoise Julien's grandmother, named Marie. She bequeathed a few hectares of vines, the juice from which was sold for a long time to a cooperative.1995Françoise Julien and her winemaker husband, Christophe Peyrus, decided to take over the estate and produce their own wines there.The 22-hectare vineyardthen experienced numerous works.Christophe Peyrusis a talented winemaker; he implements a precise and sought-after plot selection. Le Clos Marieis located on the foothills of the Cévennes, in the village of Lauret, inPic-Saint-Loup appellationThe vineyard is located betweenaltitudes of 150 and 350 meters. THE22 hectaresThe vines benefit from highly varied soils, composed mainly of limestone, clay scree, and marl. Christophe Peyrus carries out meticulous massal selection, leaving nothing to chance. He monitors each vine with great care.BiodynamicsThis practice is carried out in the vineyard to best express the richness of the terroir. The grape varieties are predominantly Syrah (50%), with Grenache Noir, Carignan, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, and Counoise for the reds. The white grape varieties cultivated on the estate are Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Roussanne, Carignan, Vermentino, Rolle, Clairette, and Muscat à Petits Grains Blancs. Christophe Peyrus's expertise and the philosophy established at Cos Marie have allowed them to achieve a very high level of quality, with highly distinctive wines.

Expressive and unique wines
In the winery, winemaking is minimally interventionist, and methods are adapted to each vintage. Aging is lengthy and takes place in demi-muids (600-liter barrels).Clos Marieproduces two white wines: the “Manon"and the vintage"The Farms of ClosOn the nose, these white wines offer delightful aromas of aromatic herbs, butter, and notes reminiscent of freshly cut hay. On the palate, they are complex and possess a beautiful volume. The red wines are produced in four cuvées, which the winemaker recommends decanting before tasting. L'Olivette is a subtle blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Cinsault with particularly fine tannins. Les Métairies du Clos red is fruity and reveals aromas of wild strawberries. The Simon cuvée is emblematic of the estate and the appellation. With its aromas reminiscent of brambles and wild plants, it characterfully represents the sublime terroir of Pic-Saint-Loup. These last two cuvées are sold en primeur. Finally, the Les Glorieuses cuvée is produced only in exceptional vintages and has immense aging potential.
