Tasting notes

Château Pichon Baron 2024 Rouge boasts a deep, intense color with purple highlights. The nose opens with a complex bouquet of ripe black fruit, cedar, sweet spices, and blond tobacco. On the palate, the attack is ample, structured by fine, powerful tannins, balanced by a lovely freshness. The texture is dense, silky, and persistent. The finish is remarkably long, revealing notes of graphite.

Food & wine pairings

Enjoy with a roast rack of lamb, a grilled ribeye steak or game in sauce.

Spanning 75 hectares of gravelly soils typical of Pauillac, the Château Pichon Baron vineyard benefits from exceptional terroir. The well-drained Quaternary gravels and the climate tempered by the Gironde estuary offer ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are meticulously tended and rigorously selected by plot. Only the oldest vines are dedicated to the Grand Vin, thus guaranteeing a limited production of impeccable quality.

Owner and history

Château Pichon Baron has belonged to the AXA Millésimes group since 1987, which is committed to preserving the soul and excellence of this historic estate. Under the direction of the talented Christian Seely, the estate has experienced a spectacular rise in quality, thanks to constant investment in equipment and a continuous pursuit of excellence. The technical team, led by Pierre Montégut, carefully manages each plot to express the unique character of the terroir. Dedicated to sustainable viticulture, the owners have successfully combined tradition, innovation, and respect for the environment to establish Pichon Baron as one of the greatest Pauillac wines.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Pichon Baron is based on meticulous craftsmanship. The hand-harvested grapes undergo vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in French oak barrels for 18 to 20 months. The oak, sourced from the finest forests, imparts a unique finesse and complexity to the wine. The blend is carefully adjusted after successive tastings, guaranteeing a perfect harmony between power and elegance. Each step is designed to enhance the expression of the terroir and produce exceptional wines.
