The Château Brane-Cantenac vineyard covers approximately 75 hectares in the heart of the Margaux appellation. It rests on an exceptional terroir composed of deep gravel, promoting excellent drainage and optimal concentration of the grapes. The vines, averaging 35 years old, benefit from meticulous care, with sustainable viticulture practices aimed at preserving biodiversity and soil quality. This unique terroir allows for the production of highly ripe grapes, resulting in elegant, complex wines built for aging, true to the noblest expression of the Médoc.

Owner and history

Owned by the Lurton family since 1925, Château Brane-Cantenac is now managed by Henri Lurton, a trained oenologist and emblematic figure of the estate's qualitative renewal. Under his guidance, the château has undergone a gradual modernization, blending tradition and innovation. Henri Lurton has focused on precision viticulture, plot-by-plot vinification, and a respectful approach to the terroir to elevate the wine to one of the most consistent in the Margaux appellation. His commitment to sustainability and the pure expression of the terroir has allowed the estate to shine in both the greatest and the most challenging vintages.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Brane-Cantenac is based on a rigorous selection of grapes, with plot-by-plot vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Each batch is vinified separately to best express the character of its terroir.

The 2024 vintage benefits from careful aging for 18 months in French oak barrels, approximately 60% of which are new. This meticulous aging process gives the wine its depth, silky texture, and aging potential. The entire process aims to preserve the purity of the fruit and refine the balance between power and elegance.
