Description

Located in Dizy, in the heart of Champagne, the Jacquesson house has embodied a rare spirit of independence and exacting standards since the 18th century. Run by the Chiquet brothers, this family-owned house produces terroir-driven Champagnes in limited quantities, with a philosophy focused on artisanal excellence. The Cuvée 746 Extra Brut embodies this quest for authenticity, showcasing the finest grapes of the year from the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims, and the Côte des Blancs. It is distinguished by its lively and precise style, while maintaining a beautiful vinosity and harmonious structure.

Tasting notes

The pale gold color of Cuvée 746 NM shines with a crystalline brilliance, accompanied by fine, persistent bubbles. The nose reveals remarkable aromatic complexity, with notes of white fruit, toasted hazelnut, and mineral nuances. On the palate, freshness is balanced by a beautiful texture, underscored by hints of wet stone and candied citrus. The finish, saline and taut, leaves an impression of rare purity and elegance.

Food & wine pairings

This Extra Brut Champagne pairs perfectly with oysters, sashimi, or sea bass tartare with lime.

Producer

Producer

The grapes for Cuvée 746 NM come from Jacquesson's historic terroirs, spread across Dizy, Aÿ, Hautvillers, Avize, and Oiry. These chalky and clay-limestone soils impart an intense mineral expression and remarkable aromatic finesse. The vines are cultivated using sustainable farming practices, with deep respect for the soil and the vine. Each plot is worked individually to guarantee optimal grape quality, a true hallmark of Jacquesson champagnes.

Owner and history

Since 1974, the Jacquesson house has been run by Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet, two visionary brothers who have restored the prestige of this house, founded in 1798. By placing the terroir at the heart of their approach, they have established demanding viticulture and deliberately limited production. Their approach, both respectful and innovative, has made Jacquesson one of the most admired houses among lovers of sincere and precise artisanal champagnes.

Vinification and aging

Jacquesson practices plot-by-plot vinification, without malolactic fermentation, in order to preserve the natural tension of the wines. The juice is aged on its lees in old oak casks for several months. Cuvée 746, made primarily from the 2018 vintage, benefits from an Extra Brut dosage of only 0.75 g/l. After bottling, the champagne is aged for an extended period in the cellars before release, which gives it a beautiful complexity and a remarkable aging potential.

The team's opinion

This 746 vintage reveals exceptional depth and tension, combining nobility of terroir and precision of blending.
