Description

Located in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Haut-Marbuzet stands out as one of the most emblematic estates on Bordeaux's Left Bank. Founded in 1952 by Hervé Duboscq, and later refined by his son Henri, the estate is distinguished by its unique style, blending Médoc tradition with Burgundian sensibility. On these gravel and clay soils, the Château crafts wines that are both powerful and charming, capable of competing with the finest classified growths. The 2024 vintage promises an intense, velvety, and promising cuvée, perfectly reflecting the estate's generous and approachable character.

The Château Haut-Marbuzet vineyard covers approximately 66 hectares situated between the prestigious Cos d'Estournel and Montrose estates. It rests on a gravelly terroir over a clay subsoil, typical of Saint-Estèphe, offering excellent drainage and water regulation. The vines, averaging 30 to 40 years old, are cultivated with care according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, promoting optimal grape ripeness. This terroir, combined with rigorous vineyard management, allows for the production of concentrated and balanced grapes, resulting in dense, elegant, and profound wines.

Owner and history

Since its acquisition in 1952 by Hervé Duboscq, and its subsequent development by his son Henri, Château Haut-Marbuzet has experienced a remarkable rise. Henri Duboscq, a charismatic figure in the Médoc, shaped the estate's style through bold choices: extensive use of new oak, very ripe grapes, and meticulous winemaking. Their vision was based on making great wines accessible, blending richness, opulence, and immediate pleasure. Today, the Duboscq family continues this commitment with passion, making Château Haut-Marbuzet an essential benchmark in Saint-Estèphe, appreciated by both novices and connoisseurs alike.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Haut-Marbuzet is traditional, with long fermentations and meticulous work in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Extraction is gentle to preserve the balance between richness and finesse.
For the 2024 vintage, the wine is aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels, giving the cuvée its smooth texture, refined woody notes and great aging potential.
