    Description

Maison Louis Roederer , located in Reims in the heart of the Champagne region, is one of the few remaining independent family-owned Champagne houses, established in 1776. Committed to demanding viticulture that respects its terroirs (Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, Côte des Blancs), it is guided by a philosophy of expressing the essence of chalk, freshness, and elegance. The Collection 245 cuvée embodies this quest for excellence: a unique multi-vintage Champagne that reflects both the House's identity and the innovative spirit of its blends.

    Notes and pairings

    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

The wine opens with a luminous golden yellow hue, enlivened by a fine and persistent effervescence. On the nose, one perceives a harmony of ripe yellow fruits (nectarine) and concentrated citrus (lemon), enhanced by almond and smoky mica. On the palate, the texture is ample and juicy, the bubbles elegant, with a beautiful balance between body and saline freshness. The long and precise finish evokes the chalky subsoil of Champagne and leaves a lingering mineral imprint.

    Food & wine pairings

Pairs perfectly with seafood (scallops, fine de claire oysters), asparagus risotto or poultry in a light sauce.

The grapes for the Collection 245 cuvée come in equal parts from the three iconic terroirs of Maison Louis Roederer: one-third "La Rivière" in the Marne Valley, one-third "La Montagne" on the Montagne de Reims, and one-third "La Côte" from the Côte des Blancs. The predominantly chalky soil ensures ideal natural drainage and imparts to the wine its characteristic freshness and minerality. The perfectly balanced vines express the ripeness of the 2020 vintage, offering a dense and structured wine while preserving the legendary finesse of the Roederer style.

    Owner and history

The House of Louis Roederer is managed by Frédéric Rouzaud, representing the seventh generation of the family. Faithful to the philosophy of excellence passed down since 1776, he continues his meticulous work on the quality of the wines and the preservation of the Champagne terroirs. Alongside cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, he has spearheaded a transition to sustainable viticulture, with a significant portion of the vineyards under organic cultivation or in conversion. Together, they create Champagnes that evoke emotion, at once modern, precise, and deeply rooted in tradition.

    Vinification and aging

Collection 245 is the result of a precise blend of 55% from the 2020 vintage, 35% Perpetual Reserve, and 10% reserve wines aged in oak. Approximately 22% of the blend undergoes malolactic fermentation to enhance its suppleness and aromatic complexity. The dosage, set at 7 g/L, aims for a perfect balance between tension, fruit, and elegance. After bottling, the wine rests for nearly four years in the cellar to reach its full potential before disgorgement.
