The Château Cheval Blanc vineyard spans 42 hectares of a unique terroir, at the junction of the gravelly soils of Pomerol and the clay soils of Saint-Émilion. This exceptional diversity of soils lends an unparalleled richness of expression to the estate's wines. The vines, averaging over 40 years old, are cultivated with meticulous precision to preserve the natural balance of the terroir. This painstaking care, combined with sustainable farming practices, allows the full expression of the complexity and depth for which Château Cheval Blanc is renowned throughout the world.

Owner and history

Since 1998, Château Cheval Blanc has been jointly owned by the LVMH group and the Frère family. Bernard Arnault and the Frère family have breathed new life into the estate, combining respect for tradition with cutting-edge technical innovation. Their vision is based on the constant pursuit of excellence, with meticulous attention to every detail, from the vineyard to the cellar. Their commitment to sustainable viticulture and artisanal excellence makes Cheval Blanc not only a living legend of Bordeaux, but also a model of timeless elegance and thoughtful modernity.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Cheval Blanc is based on a rigorous plot-by-plot approach, with each batch vinified separately to respect the diversity of the terroir. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete tanks, promoting the pure expression of the fruit and the precision of the aromas.
For the 2024 vintage, the aging process takes place over 16 to 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels, allowing the wine to gain complexity and structure without masking its natural brilliance.
