    Description

Château de Marsannay , although located in the village of the same name, owns superb parcels in the prestigious neighboring appellations. Their 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin "Vieilles Vignes" is the very expression of the power and distinction of the Côte de Nuits.

The 2022 vintage, sunny and generous, gives these old vines a fleshy depth while retaining the "earthy" character specific to Gevrey.

    Owner and history

    Vinification and aging

In 12 days, we harvest the 40 hectares of the Château de Marsannay estate with 100 pickers. A meticulous sorting process upon arrival at the winery removes any bruised or damaged berries, keeping only the finest grapes. The bunches are destemmed and then placed in vats for cold maceration followed by alcoholic fermentation. The wine is aged for 13 months in new oak barrels (35%), then in barrels that have held one or two vintages, and finally for 3 months in bulk.

    The team's opinion

The 2022 vintage is already approachable thanks to the ripeness of the fruit, but it's a wine that will gain enormously with age. Ideally, it should be waited until 2027, with cellaring potential extending to 2035-2040.
