The Château d'Esclans vineyard enjoys a privileged location on clay-limestone slopes, benefiting from optimal sunshine and cool nights that preserve the natural acidity of the grapes. Some Grenache plots are among the oldest in the region, with vines over 80 years old. Meticulous work in the vineyard, respecting the natural balance, ensures a raw material of impeccable quality, ideal for crafting exceptional rosé wines.

Owner and history

Since 2006, Château d'Esclans has belonged to Sacha Lichine, heir to a prominent Bordeaux family, driven by an innovative vision for rosé. With his international experience and unwavering commitment to quality, he has elevated Whispering Angel and the estate's other wines to some of the most sought-after in the world. His ambition: to make rosé a prestigious wine, focusing on the excellence of the terroir, meticulous winemaking, and controlled distribution. Today, Château d'Esclans is recognized as a key player in the renaissance of premium rosé.

Vinification and aging

The grapes are harvested by hand or mechanically at night to preserve their freshness. They undergo rigorous manual and optical sorting. After gentle crushing, the must is cooled to 7-8°C and protected from oxidation under a nitrogen atmosphere. Fermentation takes place entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by aging on fine lees for three to six months, punctuated by regular stirring to impart roundness, complexity, and aromatic finesse.
