Tasting notes

Château Lagrange 2024 displays a deep, purple-tinged color. The nose is intense and elegant, blending aromas of ripe black fruit with well-integrated woody and spicy notes. On the palate, the attack is direct, supported by a firm tannic structure and lovely freshness. The wine is dense and balanced, with fine, silky tannins. The finish, persistent and harmonious, suggests great aging potential.

Food & wine pairings

This wine is an ideal accompaniment to a grilled rib of beef, roast game or a strong aged cheese.

Producer

The Château Lagrange vineyard covers 118 hectares in a single block, primarily planted on the gravelly slopes of the Günz soil, characteristic of the Médoc. This poor, well-drained terroir promotes slow and complete ripening of the grapes, essential for crafting great wines. The high planting density (8,500 vines/ha) and sustainable vineyard management ensure high-quality production. Cabernet Sauvignon reigns supreme, complemented by Merlot and a touch of Petit Verdot, giving the wines depth, balance, and excellent aging potential.

Owner and history

Since 1983, Château Lagrange has belonged to the Japanese group Suntory, a company committed to developing and promoting exceptional wine-growing regions. Under the direction of oenologist Matthieu Bordes, the estate has successfully combined Médoc tradition with technical innovation. Their objective: to produce wines of excellence while respecting the terroir and the environment. Continuous investment in the cellars and vineyards, along with meticulous work in the vineyards, has established Lagrange as one of the most consistently outstanding wines of the Médoc. This attention to detail and pursuit of precision are evident in their wines, vintage after vintage.

Vinification and aging

At Château Lagrange, vinification takes place plot by plot in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for precise monitoring of each batch. Fermentation is carefully managed to express the purity of the fruit and the structure of the wine. Aging occurs in French oak barrels for 18 to 20 months, approximately 50% of which are new, imparting complexity and aromatic finesse. For the 2024 vintage, the conditions allowed for a clear expression of the terroir, resulting in a cuvée perfectly balanced between power and elegance, designed to age beautifully.
