The Château Valandraud Blanc 2020 is a brilliant expression of the expertise of Jean-Luc Thunevin, a pioneer of "garage wines" in Saint-Émilion. Although the estate is famous for its Premier Grand Cru Classé red, its white has established itself as one of the greatest dry white wines of the Right Bank.

Owner and history

The result of the considerable work of a couple passionate about wine, Murielle Andraud and Jean Luc Thunevin, Château Valandraud was humbly born in 1991 on a plot of 0.6 ha in the Fongaban valley, bought with all the couple's savings.

Vinification and aging

Hand-harvested in three passes, stored in a cold room before pressing. 80% new barrels and 20% one-year-old barrels. Vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel and wooden vats, manual punch-downs, pump-overs, maceration of approximately three weeks.
Malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aging varies depending on the vintage, from 18 to 30 months in 100% new barrels.
The final blend varies according to the vintage, following a rigorous selection process of the batches by our technical team, accompanied by numerous tasting sessions led by Jean-Philippe Fort of the Rolland Laboratory.
