The Domaine de la Ferté - Givry "Clos de Mortières" 2024 (Monopole) is a cuvée of exceptional precision. Although the estate belongs to the Devillard family (who also own Château de Chamirey), the style here is typical of the Givry appellation: wines that are often more taut, more ethereal, and marked by a pronounced chalky minerality.

As a Monopole , this wine expresses the unique identity of a single enclosed plot, offering a pure reading of the Givry terroir.

Notes and pairings

Tasting notes

Food & wine pairings

The 2021 Givry Clos de Mortières will perfectly complement a veal stew as well as eggplant fritters.

Producer

Owner and history

Clos de Mortières is an isolated plot, nestled on shallow brown limestone soil. This geological characteristic forces the vines to suffer slightly, which concentrates the aromas and provides that famous mineral "backbone" so sought after in the Côte Chalonnaise.

Vinification and aging

The vines in our "Clos de Mortières" plot were planted successively in 1960, 1993 and 2016.
They are therefore on average 30 years old.
Climate & Soil: The plot is exposed East/Southeast, the top of the plot has clay-loam soil, while the bottom is richer in sand.
Gentle slope in a South-East direction. To preserve their quality, the grapes are harvested by hand, then the harvest is sorted manually and completely destemmed.
Maceration and alcoholic fermentation last 16 to 18 days at controlled temperatures in open vats, with punch-downs of the grapes. We perform punch-downs twice a day during alcoholic fermentation.

The team's opinion

The 2024 Clos de Mortières is the very definition of an "elegant" wine. Where Mercurey brings structure, Givry provides leg and suppleness. It's a wine for immediate enjoyment, but its chalky structure guarantees excellent aging potential.
