    Tasting notes

This Clos de la Roche displays a deep, luminous ruby color. The nose opens with aromas of red and black fruits (cherry, blueberry) mingled with sweet spices (green pepper, fresh rose). On the palate, the attack is mineral and fresh, with vibrant tannins balanced by elegant acidity. The complexity unfolds gradually with a long, mouthwatering finish of remarkable persistence, promising excellent aging potential.

Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is located in Morey-Saint-Denis, on a terroir of clay-limestone soils with veins of marly limestone. The east-southeast facing vines benefit from a microclimate ideal for Pinot Noir. All the plots are cultivated biodynamically, with controlled yields, meticulous sorting, and careful selection of the grapes to preserve the pure and elegant expression of the terroir.

    Owner and history

The estate, with medieval origins, was restored in the 1960s by Gérard Potel. Since 1997, it has been managed by Patrick Landanger, now assisted by his son Benoît. This family has strengthened the acquisition of prime vineyard plots, modernized the winery, and shifted its focus towards respecting the environment. Their vision blends tradition and innovation, with a strong commitment to biodynamic practices, in order to express the full potential of the Clos de la Roche terroir.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking process is long and gentle, with cold maceration followed by controlled fermentation. Aging takes place in oak barrels, with a significant percentage of new oak (approximately 30%), followed by one- and two-year-old barrels. The wine is aged for 15 to 18 months, without filtration or fining, to preserve aromatic freshness, structure, and fruit purity while ensuring exceptional aging potential.
