Nestled on the clay-limestone slopes of Benais, this family estate has perpetuated a tradition of meticulous work and respect for the terroir for generations. Having converted to organic farming in the 2000s, it has established itself as a leading producer for lovers of Loire Cabernet Franc. The 2018 Les Marsaules cuvée is a perfect example: a structured, elegant red wine of beautiful complexity, born from the estate's finest parcels. Ideal for aging or special occasions.

    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

The 2018 Marsaules boasts a deep ruby color with garnet highlights. The nose, subtle and expressive, blends aromas of black cherry, violet, and a light touch of spice. On the palate, the wine seduces with its silky texture, beautiful tension, and noble tannic structure. The long, persistent finish reveals notes of dark fruit and minerality. A harmonious, elegant, and vibrant wine, promising a truly memorable tasting experience.

    Food & wine pairings

Perfect with a veal chop with chanterelles, a roast pigeon or a farm-made Saint-Nectaire cheese.

The vineyards of Domaine du Bel Air stretch across the finest slopes of Bourgueil, in soils rich in tuffeau, marl, and clay-limestone. This emblematic Loire terroir offers Cabernet Franc ideal conditions to express freshness, depth, and minerality. The Les Marsaules cuvée comes from rigorously selected old vines, whose yields are carefully controlled to guarantee concentration and elegance. Organic practices enhance the pure expression of the terroir in each vintage.

    Owner and history

Pierre Gauthier and today his son Rodolphe passionately manage Domaine du Bel Air. Committed to organic practices since the 2000s, they champion viticulture that respects both living organisms and local heritage. Their artisanal approach, based on observing the vineyard and respecting natural cycles, ensures that each vintage possesses a unique character. The transmission of this family expertise has allowed the estate to gain well-deserved national and international recognition.

    Vinification and aging

Domaine du Bel Air favors natural winemaking, with long fermentations in vats, without added yeasts. Extractions are gentle to preserve the finesse of the fruit.
The 2018 Les Marsaules vintage is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, some of which are new, adding complexity without overpowering the wine. The result is a Bourgueil that is profound, elegant, and perfectly balanced.
