This well-drained, east-facing clay-limestone terroir imparts great aromatic depth to the Pinot Noir. The vines in this plot, around forty years old, are cultivated with care, using sustainable practices that promote biodiversity and allow the soil to express its true character.

    Domaine Jean Grivot is now managed by Étienne Grivot, representing the fifth generation of this pioneering Vosne-Romanée family. Since the 1980s, Étienne has profoundly evolved the wines' style, striving for greater finesse, balance, and precision. Committed to sustainable viticulture, he passionately pursues excellence, showcasing the unique character of each terroir through plot-by-plot vinification. His son, Mathias, now works alongside him, ensuring the continuity of this exceptional family tradition.

    Vinification and aging

    At Domaine Jean Grivot, vinification is carried out using whole or partially destemmed grapes, depending on the vintage, with gentle fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks. The 2018 Premier Cru Les Rouges was aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which were new. This process refines the tannic structure while revealing the purity of the fruit and the floral elegance characteristic of this great Burgundian Pinot Noir.
