    Description

Located in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château La Mission Haut-Brion is one of Bordeaux's most iconic estates, a direct neighbor of the prestigious Château Haut-Brion. Owned by Domaines Clarence Dillon, this legendary wine is distinguished by its powerful, harmonious, and remarkably structured style. La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion, the estate's second wine, benefits from the same expertise as its older sibling, while expressing a more approachable expression of this exceptional terroir. Each vintage reflects the richness of the deep gravelly soils of Pessac and the excellence of the work in the vineyard and the cellar.

The Château La Mission Haut-Brion vineyard stretches across deep gravelly soils, typical of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, resting on a clay-sand subsoil. This exceptional, perfectly drained terroir allows for a slow and even ripening of the grapes. The vines destined for La Chapelle are cultivated with care, respecting the natural balance, to produce grapes of optimal quality and reveal the full complexity of the wine.

    Owner and history

Château La Mission Haut-Brion has belonged to the Dillon family since 1983, who also own Château Haut-Brion. Led by Prince Robert of Luxembourg, the family is dedicated to preserving Bordeaux's winemaking heritage while infusing it with modernity and high standards. Thanks to a humanist and sustainable vision, Domaines Clarence Dillon has elevated La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion to one of Bordeaux's finest second wines, combining accessibility with excellence.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château La Mission Haut-Brion follows a traditional method, with fermentations in temperature-controlled tanks and meticulous pump-overs. For this 2020 vintage, aging takes place in French oak barrels, approximately 25% of which are new, for 14 to 16 months. This controlled winemaking gives La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion finesse, depth, and complexity, in a style true to the estate's DNA.
