The Clos Fourtet vineyard is situated on a clay-limestone plateau, offering ideal terroir for viticulture. The vines, averaging 30 years old, benefit from optimal sunshine and excellent drainage thanks to the soil's composition. This privileged location allows the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, developing complex aromas and a beautiful tannic structure. The estate is committed to respecting the environment by practicing sustainable viticulture, guaranteeing optimal grape quality while preserving biodiversity.

    Owner and history

Clos Fourtet is currently managed by the Cuvelier family, who acquired the estate in 2001. Passionate about winemaking, they have invested in modern techniques while preserving traditions. Their commitment to quality and respect for the environment is reflected in every bottle. Under their guidance, the estate has experienced a renaissance, combining innovation with respect for historical values. The Cuvelier family ensures that each wine is an authentic reflection of its terroir, while adhering to a sustainable and environmentally conscious approach.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking of La Closerie de Fourtet 2017 is rooted in a tradition of excellence. The grapes, carefully hand-harvested, are destemmed and crushed before being placed in vats for temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation. This crucial step allows for the extraction of aromas and color from the berries. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for approximately 12 months. This process imparts aromatic complexity and a beautiful roundness on the palate, while respecting the identity of the terroir. The final, expertly crafted blend reveals a perfect harmony between the grape varieties.
