The Château Latour vineyard covers 78 hectares, primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The gravelly soils ensure optimal drainage, essential for the ripening of the grapes. The region's oceanic climate, with its hot summers and mild winters, contributes to the exceptional quality of the harvest. The vines are cultivated with care, favoring sustainable viticulture practices to preserve biodiversity and the unique terroir of Pauillac.

    Owner and history

Château Latour has been owned by the French holding company Artemis, headed by the Pinault family, since 1993. This acquisition has allowed the estate to retain its integrity while introducing innovations. The management team, led by Frédéric Engerer, is committed to respecting traditions while investing in modern techniques to optimize wine quality. The team's philosophy is based on the idea that each wine should reflect its terroir, embodying both the heritage and the future of Château Latour.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for the 2017 Forts de Latour is carried out with meticulous care. The grapes are harvested by hand and then rigorously sorted. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, allowing for precise temperature control and optimal extraction of the berries. The wine is then aged for 12 months in oak barrels, 30% of which are new, imparting complexity and structure. This meticulous process ensures that each bottle reflects the authenticity and expertise of Château Latour.
