Description

Located in the heart of the Gard region of Languedoc-Roussillon, Roc d'Anglade is an iconic estate run by Rémy Pedreno, a passionate, self-taught winemaker. Founded in the late 1990s in Langlade, this estate quickly established itself as one of the region's leading producers thanks to an approach inspired by the great wines of Burgundy. Here, biodynamics is a cornerstone, precision is a constant pursuit, and respect for the terroir is a philosophy. Roc d'Anglade wines, at once elegant, expressive, and profound, captivate with their remarkable balance, freshness, and aging potential, placing the estate among the finest in southern France.

Notes and pairings

Notes and pairings

Tasting notes

The 2023 Roc d'Anglade Rouge reveals a brilliant ruby color with violet highlights. The nose opens with notes of small red fruits, fresh herbs, and violet, with a subtle touch of spice. On the palate, the structure is delicate, fresh, and flavorful, supported by fine tannins and a lovely acidity. The persistent finish extends the floral and fruity aromas with great elegance. A vibrant wine to discover now or to age gracefully.

Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs wonderfully with a confit shoulder of lamb, a mushroom risotto or a roasted poultry with herbs.

The Roc d'Anglade vineyard stretches across north-facing slopes, planted in clay-limestone and Villafranchian soils rich in pebbles. These terroirs, combined with a climate tempered by the altitude, promote a slow and balanced ripening of the grapes. The vines are cultivated biodynamically with great respect for natural cycles, without synthetic inputs, which guarantees a pure expression of the terroir and optimal concentration of aromas in the berries.

Owner and history

Rémy Pedreno, a self-taught former bookseller turned winemaker, embodies the soul of Roc d'Anglade. Since founding the estate in 1999, he has championed a unique vision: to produce vibrant wines that are precise, elegant, and easy to drink, inspired by the finest Burgundy wines. His commitment to biodynamic practices and his exacting standards at every stage have propelled Roc d'Anglade to the forefront of winemaking. Each vintage is a new and authentic expression of the terroir, crafted with passion and intuition.

Vinification and aging

At the estate, vinification is carried out using indigenous yeasts, with gentle extraction and maceration adapted to each plot. The wine is then aged in used Burgundy barrels for approximately 18 months, without fining or filtration.
The 2023 vintage follows this same philosophy: minimal intervention winemaking to preserve the finesse of the fruit, followed by long aging which refines the structure and reveals the complexity of the wine while respecting its natural balance.
