Since its first vintage in 1995, Seña has established itself as a model of quality and precision, cultivated biodynamically and inspired by the philosophy of Bordeaux's finest wines. The 2016 vintage exemplifies this quest for excellence with a refined, intense expression, built for aging, that captivates wine lovers worldwide.

Notes and pairings

Tasting notes

The 2016 Seña boasts an intense purple color with garnet highlights. The nose reveals a complex bouquet of ripe black fruits, cocoa, cedar, and sweet spices. On the palate, the texture is ample, supported by a precise and silky tannic structure. The balance between freshness and concentration is remarkable, with a persistent and vibrant finish marked by hints of graphite and licorice.

Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs perfectly with a rack of roast lamb, game in sauce or duck breast.

The Seña vineyard stretches across the terraced slopes of the Aconcagua Valley, on volcanic and alluvial soils that promote excellent concentration in the grapes. Cultivated biodynamically, the estate benefits from the cool influences of the Pacific Ocean and Andean breezes, resulting in slow and balanced ripening. The diverse grape varieties and high planting density allow for a true expression of the terroir and remarkable complexity in each vintage.

Owner and history

Seña is the fruit of a bold partnership between Eduardo Chadwick, heir to the Errázuriz family, and Robert Mondavi, a Californian legend. Their ambition: to create a Chilean wine with international prestige. Since the first vintage in 1995, the Chadwick family has continued the adventure independently, with rigor and passion. Committed to biodynamic farming and the promotion of Chilean terroir, they have elevated Seña to the status of a global benchmark, combining tradition, innovation, and sustainability.

Vinification and aging

The Seña estate employs traditional methods to preserve the integrity of the grapes, with vinification carried out by plot and grape variety. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and wooden vats, with gentle extraction.
The 2016 vintage was aged for 22 months in French oak barrels, 70% of which were new. This extended aging process refines the structure, develops aromatic complexity, and ensures excellent aging potential, true to the Seña style.

The team's opinion

An exceptional Chilean wine, deep and chiseled, which elegantly reveals all the nobility of its Andean terroir.
