Today, it boasts beautiful neoclassical architecture, perfectly in harmony with the rest of the estate.

Château Cantemerle is aGrand Cru Classé of 1855which covers 91 hectares. Its soil is poor, forcing the vines to root deeply. This consequently results in...balanced, delicate and complex wines.

The vineyards of the estate are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (64%), Merlot (26%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (4%).

An old story

Dating back to the Middle Ages

The first traces of the lords of Cantemerle date back to 1147, during the Middle Ages. Wine production at the Cantemerle estate began in the 16th century. Indeed, Jehan de Villeneuve purchased it in 1579 and it was later sold to...Dubos family, by his descendants, in 1892, after having been classified as a 5th Growth in 1855. In 1981, Château de Cantemerle was finally sold toBuilding and Public Works Mutual Insurance CompaniesFor a few years, they entrusted the management of Cantemerle Castle to theCordier HouseDuring this period, Maison Cordier undertook numerous renovation and replanting projects in the vineyards. Finally, more than ten years after these intensive investments, a management team led byPhilippe Dambrineis put in place. This has allowed Château Cantemerle to regain the elegance that can be felt today in its wines.
