The story ofChâteau Marquis d'Alesmebegins in 1585, when the Marquis d'Alesme settled on the lands ofMargauxHe gave his name to the château and decided to develop it. From its beginnings, the château was marked by both Eastern and Western influences. The first owner, a great admirer of China, made numerous trips there. Chinese philosophy and an openness to the world allowed the estate to flourish.
Next came the Dutch merchant,Jean Bekker Teerlink, a herbalist and science enthusiast who took over the management of the vineyard. A collector of plants, like his predecessor of Chinese objects, it is the passion of its owners that gives the Château its unique character. The herbalist's heirs sold the property in 1832, and it was the Polish familySznajolerskiwhoever acquires it. In 1877, the painterArthur de GassowskiThe son-in-law of the Sznajolerski family returned to the Bordeaux region. After associating with artists such as Gustave Courbet, he dedicated himself to developing the château's winemaking activities. He found in the vineyards an inexhaustible source of inspiration for his art.
The Château experienced some setbacks in the 20th century. Today, since 2006, it is owned by an industrialist and art lover.Hubert Perrodowho, with his wifeCarrie Wong, owns the estate. Their daughterNathalie Perrodo-Samaniis currently the manager of Château Marquis d'Alesme. THEThird Growth Classifiedof the appellationMargauxIt covers 16 hectares. This complex soil, made of clayey gravel, clay, and limestone, is already apparent in the16th centuryas the only terroir worthy of the Marquis, who will be dedicated to its development. Situated on a gentle slope, the vines have an average age of40 years oldbenefit from perfect natural drainage.
Today, the estate combines a love of science and botany. The grape varieties ofcabernet sauvignon(63%), ofmerlot(30%), oflittle green dot(5%) and ofcabernet franc(2%) are cultivated using sustainable practices. Heavily inspired by biodynamic viticulture, the Château's teams protect and enhance the local flora and fauna. Each winemaker comes from a different cultural background, and as such, they each bring their own unique experience and approach to the vine.
Located near the Gironde estuary, the vineyard benefits from significant protection against extreme weather events that could damage the vines.

It is crafted in the purest tradition of Bordeaux wines.Third Growth ClassifiedThe first winery was built in 1938 and completely renovated in 2013. Under the direction ofMarjolaine MauriceIn charge of the winemaking process, the grapes receive the utmost attention. A meticulous sorting is therefore carried out following the manual harvest.
After crushing, the grapes are placed in the gravity-flow winery. Following maceration and fermentation, the wines are aged in French oak barrels for 15 to 18 months. The resulting wine offers aromas of flowers and dark fruit.
