Apalta Valley

0 products

Apalta is a region in the Colchagua Valley of Chile that focuses on red wine production. Until recently, the renowned wines of this valley were labeled as Valle de Colchagua. Apparently, the name Apalta comes from the dialect of the valley's indigenous people, meaning "tremor," a reference to the numerous earthquakes that have struck the region. Apalta wines are now highly sought after and are made from grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and Syrah. Other varieties, such as Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Mourvèdre, are also cultivated, but to a lesser extent.
