Description

Champagne Adrien Renoir is a family estate located in Verzy, one of the prestigious Grand Cru villages of the Montagne de Reims. For generations, the Renoir family has crafted highly expressive champagnes, highlighting the richness of Pinot Noir and the unique character of each vineyard site. The 2019 “Les Montants” cuvée perfectly illustrates this philosophy: sourced from a single plot and cultivated biodynamically, it is distinguished by its mineral tension, aromatic precision, and aging potential. This is a signature champagne, deeply rooted in its terroir and its time, and an absolute must-try.

Producer

Producer

Adrien Renoir's vineyard is located in Verzy, on the Montagne de Reims, a terroir renowned for the quality of its chalky soils and northeast exposure. The "Les Montants" plot rests on deep clay-limestone soil, ideal for revealing the minerality of Pinot Noir. The vines, approximately 40 years old, are cultivated biodynamically, allowing the precise expression of the terroir's character. Each grape cluster is handled with respect for the environment.

Owner and history

Adrien Renoir represents the fourth generation of a line of winemakers in Verzy. Trained by the finest Champagne artisans, he breathed new life into the family estate by converting the vineyards to biodynamic farming. His vision is clear: to produce Champagnes with a distinct identity, true to their terroir, and free from artifice. With each cuvée, he imbues the estate with a pure, precise, and profoundly sincere style, now acclaimed by both wine lovers and critics.

Vinification and aging

Adrien Renoir practices a plot-by-plot winemaking process, gentle and without unnecessary additives. The grapes are pressed slowly, then vinified in oak barrels with natural fermentation. No dosage is added, in order to preserve the identity of the terroir.
For “Les Montants” 2019, vinification was followed by extended aging on the lees, without filtration, revealing a pure, taut, and complex wine. It is a brut nature champagne of rare precision.
