The Château d'Issan vineyard stretches across carefully selected land, where clay-limestone soils play a crucial role in the quality of the grapes. The vines, some decades old, sink their roots deep into this fertile soil, allowing them to express the full richness of their terroir. The oceanic climate of Margaux, with its maritime influences, ensures a slow and even ripening of the grapes, thus promoting a perfect balance between acidity and sugar. This meticulous attention to detail in the vineyard is reflected in the complexity and elegance of the wines produced.

Owner and history

Château d'Issan is currently managed by the Carra family, who have breathed new life into the estate while respecting its heritage. Since their arrival, they have invested in modern and sustainable techniques to improve the quality of their wines. Their passion for viticulture and their commitment to the environment are reflected in their terroir-conscious practices. Thanks to their vision, Château d'Issan continues to produce wines that tell the story of their land, captivating wine lovers worldwide.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château d'Issan is a meticulous process designed to preserve the integrity of the fruit. After careful hand-harvesting and sorting, the grapes are destemmed before being fermented in stainless steel tanks, allowing for precise temperature control. Aging takes place in oak barrels, some of which are new, for approximately 16 months. This barrel aging enriches the wine with subtle woody aromas while harmoniously integrating the tannins. Each step is carefully considered to reveal the best of each vintage, resulting in a wine that is both complex and approachable.
