    Description

Malartic Lagravière is an essential reference in Pessac-Léognan.

95/100 pts VINOUSThe 2020 Malartic-Lagravière Blanc has a light but fresh bouquet of Anjou pear, Granny Smith apples, and subtle tertiary aromas that develop in the glass. The palate is well-balanced, with well-integrated oak and perfectly measured acidity. It is creamy but not overly so, with a long, elegant finish. This is a first-rate dry white Bordeaux. ” Neal Martin

The vineyard, totaling 53 hectares, is planted with red and white grape varieties. Seven hectares are dedicated to the production of white wines (80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Sémillon).

Château Malartic Lagravière is one of the 6 castles of Pessac-Léognan classified for its red wines and its white wines, proof of its exceptional terroir.

    Owner and history

Château Malartic Lagravière is one of only six Classified Growths for both white and red wines in the 1953 Graves classification. The vineyard covers 46 hectares for red wines and 7 hectares for white wines. The 53 hectares lie on gravelly soil with a subsoil of shelly limestone, where Sauvignon Blanc (80%), Merlot (45%), Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), Cabernet Franc (8%), and Petit Verdot (2%) thrive.

    Vinification and aging

After harvesting, the grapes undergo a slow pressing and fermentation in barrels. The wine is then aged on its lees in oak barrels for 11 months.
