History of the Estate Château Pichon Baron

the story of Château Pichon Baron

              The family legacy

              A stellar reputation

In 1689, Pierre Desmezures de Rauzan, owner of the Latour and Margaux estates, purchased some vineyards. A passionate and successful wine merchant, he thus created theRauzan EnclosureThis acquisition would later become part of the dowry of Thérèse, her daughter. In 1694, she married Baron Jacques Pichon de Longueville. They then built the estate.Pichon LonguevilleA large family estate, it enjoys a brilliant reputation. It will later be bequeathed to the Baron's descendants.

With their share of the estate, his three daughters would create Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. His son, Baron Raoul, would have the castle built and foundPichon Longueville BaronHis wine was then officially classified.2nd Grand Cru of the MédocIn 1987, the AXA insurance company acquired the château. Today, Christian Seely, the group's CEO, manages the estate. He is assisted by Daniel Llose and Jean-René Matignon on the technical side, who are themselves supported by Alexandra Lebossé, Cellar Master, and Joël Dupuy, Head of Vineyards.

Each vintage has its own culture

              Meticulousness and tradition

The CastlePichon BaronHe considers winemaking a craft and almost an art form. He takes great care of the soil so that it can fulfill its full potential. The winemaker listens to the soil and uses all his talent to enhance the fruits of his vines. This estate is also the first in the Bordeaux region to receive aenvironmental protection certificationin 2000.

Meticulousness and tradition are paramount. His skill and the quality of his work have a major influence on the quality of his wines. He carries out his work with a constant focus on improving yields. The harvest is done entirely by hand to ensure the best possible selection of the grapes and to preserve them in good condition. They are then placed in vats for vinification: the key moment that allows the winemaker's work to continue. Indeed, it is this crucial step that reveals the full range of the wine's aromas.

              A field dedicated to excellence

              Modernity and tradition

THEChâteau Pichon BaronThe estate boasts a team that is both professional and passionate. Its members share the same pursuit of excellence. This is why they are wholeheartedly committed to maintaining their fabulous 73-hectare estate. They will rebuild the vat room and cellars, and completely renovate the château. Thus, modernity meets tradition, and the result is quite remarkable. It allows for a significant improvement in the quality of the estate's production. Hosting various events for their clients justifies the continuation of the renovations. Just like its wines, the estate...Pichon BaronIt aims to be refined and elegant. It wishes to open itself to wine lovers worldwide in order to share its historical level of quality. This policy enabled it to win, in 2011, theGold Trophy at the Best Of Wine TourismUltimately, the Pichon Baron estate is like its wines: powerful and elegant.
