    Owner and history

    The Vosne-Romanée vineyard, located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, is renowned for producing some of the world's greatest wines. This exceptional terroir rests on clay-limestone soil, ideal for the flourishing of Pinot Noir. Joseph Drouhin, committed to organic and biodynamic practices, cultivates its vines with the utmost care to encourage the purest expression of the terroir. The Premier Cru plots benefit from optimal exposure and a unique microclimate, ensuring slow and even ripening of the grapes.

    Vinification and aging

    The winemaking for Joseph Drouhin's 2020 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru follows a traditional approach, with particular attention paid to expressing the terroir. After hand-harvesting and meticulous sorting of the grapes, fermentation takes place in vats, with gentle pump-overs and punch-downs to delicately extract aromas and tannic structure. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels (20 to 30% new oak) for approximately 14 to 18 months. This aging process imparts elegant oak notes without masking the purity of the fruit and allows the wine to gain complexity and length. The result is a wine that is both powerful and refined, with exceptional aging potential.
