Marcel Deiss's vineyards extend across varied soils, composed primarily of limestone, sandstone, and marl. These different soil types allow each grape variety to express itself uniquely, fostering a wide range of aromas. The Alsatian climate, with its hot summers and cold winters, provides ideal conditions for optimal grape ripening. Marcel Deiss's viticultural philosophy is based on respecting biodiversity, which contributes to the health of the vines and the quality of the grapes.

Owner and history

Currently managed by Jean-Michel Deiss, the estate perpetuates his father's legacy by emphasizing interplanting and a respectful approach to nature. Jean-Michel has modernized certain practices while remaining true to family traditions. His commitment to quality and environmental preservation has allowed the estate to rise to become one of the most respected in Alsace. Each wine produced is the fruit of passionate work, reflecting a unique terroir and a rich family history.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Marcel Deiss is a meticulous process that reflects a deep respect for the terroir. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted. After gentle pressing, the juice is fermented in oak barrels for a period that varies depending on the vintage. Aging on fine lees adds complexity and finesse to the wine. This artisanal process, combined with minimal intervention, ensures that each bottle tells the story of its terroir.
