Burg

The Burg vineyard, a monopole of the Marcel Deiss estate, lends its name to the prestigious Burg cuvée, which could aptly be considered a Premier Cru of Alsace. This vineyard is unique in that it brings together all the indigenous grape varieties of Alsace in a mixed planting system. Located south of the village of Bergheim, it borders the Burlenberg vineyard and stretches across a south-facing slope, on soils of variegated Keuper marl with occasional limestone intercalations. Burg wine is rich, powerful, complex, and structured. It deserves 10 to 20 years of cellaring before being enjoyed and revealing its striking citrus and bitter aromas.

Saint-Chinian is an appellation in Languedoc-Roussillon , covering 3300 hectares in the southwest of

The Burg terroir is located in the Bergheim appellation of Alsace . Its strength comes from a sheltered, south-facing location and a base of variegated marl subsoil. All Alsatian grape varieties are cultivated biodynamically there, using the interplanting technique.

    Marcel Deiss

Domaine Marcel Deiss , near Ribeauvillé, holds the monopoly on this vineyard. Founded in the mid-18th century, the estate is now run by Jean-Michel and Mathieu Deiss. On 27 hectares, father and son continue to cultivate indigenous Alsatian grape varieties (Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Muscat, Sylvaner...).

The Cuvée Burg is what one might call a Premier Cru of Alsace. It is a powerful and structured white wine with excellent aging potential. We recommend decanting it before serving it chilled to allow it to fully express its character. On the nose, it evokes white fruit and earthy aromas after the rain; the palate is impressive, rich, and briny with a touch of bitterness. This wine pairs beautifully with seafood and blue cheeses.
