On a 55-hectare vineyard

The Domaine de Chevalier has 55 hectares inGrand Cru Classé of Gravesin the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The red wine is produced on 50 hectares using Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot grapes. The white wine comes from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon grapes grown on 5 hectares. Both wines benefit from vines that are on average 35 years old.

The Domaine de Chevalier team is led byOlivier Bernard, an ambassador for Bordeaux wines. His goal is to express the full richness of the terroir ofPessac-LéognanBordeaux wine lovers praise the quality and consistency of the wines produced each vintage by Domaine de Chevalier.

His story

Originally, the estate was small, with a few vines surrounded by forest, and was called Domaine de Chivaley. The name ofChevalier Estateas we know it today appeared in the second half of the 19th century. They are two brothers,Arnaud and Jean Ricard, then their descendants, who carry the estate within the Graves appellation.The Bernard FamilyOlivier Bernard took over management of the estate in 1983. The current owner benefits from the surrounding forests that insulate the vineyard. These forests play a crucial role: they trap heat in the summer, creating a greenhouse effect that promotes grape ripening. However, this also increases the risk of frost in winter. Since the Bernard Group acquired the estate, the vineyard has undergone gradual expansion and the installation of modern facilities.

Once bottled, the wine possesses all the properties to be awine for long aging.
