History of the Emidio Pepe Estate
intergenerational transmission
In 1899,Emidio PepeHe created this exceptional estate, now considered one of the jewels of Italian winemaking. Four generations have succeeded one another, and the founder's grandson has brought prestige to the appellation.Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. From 1964 onwards, he put his bottles on sale and kept some in his cellars to prove the aging potential of the wines.
Today, over 350,000 bottles are stored in the estate's cellars. These precious bottles are sold sparingly and attract the attention of discerning collectors and investors. Fifty harvests later, he is passing the torch to his daughters and granddaughter, though it's not uncommon to see him in the vineyards. Daniel, Sofia, and now Chiara are the proud ambassadors of this beautiful Italian estate.

Wines and viticulture
Magnificent aging potential
The grapes are hand-harvested and then crushed by foot, using traditional methods. Fermentation takes place in concrete vats using indigenous yeasts. The wines are then aged in cement vats before being bottled unfiltered. This makes the wines all the more approachable and perfectly reveals the full complexity of their terroirs. Wines that have had time to age for extended periods in the bottle unveil a rare complexity, never lacking in freshness. The aging cellar is brimming with treasures and allows for vertical tastings dating back to 1964 for reds and 1970 for whites. The bottles sold are decanted and labeled by hand. Emidio Pepe's challenge to prove the aging potential of Montepulciano wines has been met... with flying colors!MontepulcianoIt's luscious and juicy in its youth. It needs aeration to allow its dark fruit notes and freshness to fully develop. Of course, these bottles age well and will reveal great complexity after a few years of cellaring.
