A family estate

THE GALLET FAMILY

Cultivated since antiquity, vines experienced considerable growth. However, it was not until the arrival of the Popes in Avignon in the 14th century that the reputation of the Rhône vineyards was established.

The Gallet family is based in Ampuis, between Condrieu and Lyon.since 1807As a result, the Gallet family witnessed the establishment, in 1937, of the "Rhône Valley" Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC). Despite the events of the 20th century, the family never ceased practicing viticulture. Today, it is thesixth generationwho is in charge of the vineyard ofCôte-Rôtie.

A TREASURE IN THE HEART OF CÔTE-RÔTIE

Not far from the capital of Gaul, the 4 hectares of vineyards ofGallet estateBenefiting from a temperate climate with continental influences, the grape varieties ofViognierandSyrahenjoy a favorable location. Situated on steep slopes with metamorphic rock soil, the vineyard benefits from excellent drainage.Côte-RôtieThe name "Côte-Rôtie" derives from two major characteristics of the region. The vines are planted on steep slopes and enjoy abundant sun exposure. This appellation encompasses 73 classified sites, including some of the most prestigious wines in the Rhône Valley. Domaine Gallet's vineyards extend across this Côte-Rôtie appellation, specifically the lieux-dits of Laucement de Chambard and Charavane. The two grape varieties cultivated here are emblematic of the northern Rhône Valley. The vines have an average age of 45 years.

The family's passion for winemaking is passed down even in the barrels. The vineyard of theGallet familyknows a viticulturereasonedThe Viognier (6%) and Syrah (94%) are harvested by hand. The wine is aged in oak barrels for two years. Syrah is known for its spicy and peppery notes. This emblematic grape variety of the region is charming, supple, and very harmonious. The wines are composed primarily ofSyrahare excellent for keeping. TheViognierIt brings balance to the estate's wines. It is characterized by its roundness and vivacity. The two grape varieties are fermented simultaneously. The family is renowned for its winemaking expertise. As a result, the wines are authentic and beautifully complex.
