    Description

Located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, Château d'Issan embodies the quintessence of the great terroirs of the Médoc. Classified as a Third Growth in the 1855 classification, this historic estate captivates with its elegant and refined style. The 2019 Blason d'Issan , the château's second wine, benefits from the same meticulous craftsmanship as the grand vin, while offering a more approachable expression of this magnificent terroir. With its classic Médoc grape varieties and careful aging, it reflects the finesse and balance characteristic of Margaux. An ideal wine for discovering the signature style of Château d'Issan, in a sunny and harmonious vintage.

Its nose opens with aromas of ripe black fruit, cherry, and plum, delicately complemented by woody and toasty notes. On the palate, the attack is supple, with velvety tannins and lovely freshness. The refined finish reveals a touch of spice and a delicate length, the hallmark of a perfectly balanced Margaux.

The Château d'Issan vineyard covers approximately forty hectares, planted on the deep gravel soils typical of Margaux, which provide excellent drainage and optimal grape ripening. The vines dedicated to Blason d'Issan come from younger plots, but are cultivated with the same exacting standards as those of the grand vin. The gravelly soil rests on a clay-limestone base, resulting in a balanced, fresh, and delicately structured wine.

    Owner and history

Château d'Issan is currently managed by Emmanuel Cruse, from a long line of Bordeaux winegrowers. Since 1998, alongside the Lorenzetti family, he has worked with passion to promote this Grand Cru Classé. Committed to sustainable viticulture and respectful of the terroir, they have modernized the facilities while preserving tradition. The Issan coat of arms reflects this desire to offer an authentic, accessible, and high-quality Margaux.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking at Château d'Issan follows a rigorous plot-by-plot method with fermentations in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruit.
The 2019 Blason d'Issan is then aged in French oak barrels for approximately 12 months, with one-third new oak, adding complexity without masking the purity of the fruit. This meticulous care results in a harmonious wine, both luscious and refined, ready to drink after a few years of cellaring.
