Owner and history

Château Angelus benefits from an 85-hectare vineyard, 55 of which are in Saint-Emilion. The vines are located on the hillside and the foot of the slopes south of the Saint-Emilion appellation. The vines are on average 38 years old, they are planted on clay-limestone soils on the upper slopes and clay-sandy-limestone soils on the lower slopes. Concerned about environmental impact, the castle's plots are certified High Environmental Value level 3. The owners wish to convert the vineyard to organic farming; they are currently in the process of conversion.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking process takes place either in wooden and stainless steel vats for the Merlots, or in concrete vats for the Cabernet Francs.
The wine is aged in new French oak barrels. The Cabernet Franc wines undergo a special aging process, taking place in 30 hl casks to better express their aromatic richness.
Meticulous work has been carried out to obtain Angélus wines with a beautiful balance, extreme elegance and admirable precision!
