Owner and history

Le Carillon de l'Angélus is the second wine of Château Angélus, recently promoted to the pinnacle of its appellation alongside Châteaux Ausone and Cheval Blanc. Created with the 1987 vintage, this wine represents approximately 20% of the estate's production and is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and half Merlot, the king of grapes in Saint-Émilion. The vineyard, about fifteen years old, covers 26 hectares and has a south-facing exposure.

Vinification and aging

The vines for this vintage receive the same care as those producing Château Angélus and the harvest is done by hand and then sorted with great care, for vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and aging for 12 to 14 months in new and one-year-old barrels.
