A wine with a straight, ample structure and serious volume. The aromas are delicate with subtle notes of wild berries, cigar, and mocha. The palate is generous, with powerful yet well-integrated tannins. It is a distinguished wine with excellent aging potential.
Terroir : 100% Tannat, from vines between 80 and 100 years old, planted on exceptional terroirs. These are small plots of fine clay on the edge of the old cliff of Maumusson-Laguian. A wine with rich energy, drawn from the friable rock where the roots reach down to 20 meters.
Winemaking: Cold pre-fermentation maceration for 2 to 5 days. Slow fermentation between 22° and 26°C for 8 to 10 days. Extended maceration of 30 to 45 days (adapted to the vintage). Aging on lees in barrels (100% new) for 14 to 16 months. Bottled after 36 months of aging, then aged for at least 2 years in bottle before release.
Estate : Château Bouscassé is the family estate of Alain Brumont, located in Maumusson-Laguian. He has restored old vineyards that had been abandoned for nearly 50 years. He is the leading wine producer in Southwest France.
