The Château La Lagune vineyard covers 80 hectares, characterized by deep gravelly slopes that provide excellent drainage and promote optimal grape ripening. The grape varieties cultivated include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The diversity of the plots allows for plot-by-plot vinification, guaranteeing a precise expression of each terroir's specific characteristics. Since the 2000s, significant work has been undertaken to revitalize the vineyard and technical facilities, including the construction of a new vat room and the expansion of the winery.

Owner and history

Château La Lagune has been managed since 2004 by Caroline Frey, a passionate and dedicated oenologist. She has profoundly modernized the estate while preserving its historical heritage. Also at the helm of Paul Jaboulet Aîné in the Rhône Valley, she instills a demanding and sustainable vision of viticulture. Under her leadership, the estate has converted to organic farming, while simultaneously reinforcing the precision of its winemaking. Her approach, respectful of the environment and the Médoc identity, has elevated Château La Lagune to the status of an essential benchmark in the Haut-Médoc, brilliantly combining tradition and innovation.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château La Lagune is carried out with meticulous care, combining tradition and innovation. The winery is designed to maximize the use of gravity, eliminating the need for pumping and preserving the integrity of the grapes. After careful hand-sorting, supplemented by optical sorting, the grapes are gently transferred to vats for plot-by-plot vinification. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, 50% of which are renewed annually, for a period of 12 to 14 months. This process imparts structure, silky tannins, and subtle oak notes to the wine, while preserving its elegance and fruitiness.
