The Château Léoville Las Cases vineyard covers 55 hectares, planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The vines are rooted in gravelly soils, promoting drainage and optimal grape ripening. Bordeaux's oceanic climate, with its hot summers and mild winters, allows for a slow and even maturation of the berries, contributing to the aromatic richness of the wines. Each plot is meticulously cultivated to respect the unique expression of this exceptional terroir.

Owner and history

Château Léoville Las Cases is currently managed by the Carvallo family, who have preserved the heritage of this grand cru while bringing a modern vision to its management. Passionate about their terroir, they are committed to producing high-quality wines that reflect the authenticity of their estate. The family also places great importance on respecting the environment, adopting sustainable viticultural practices and promoting biodiversity within the vineyard.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking process for Le Petit Lion 2009 is carried out with meticulous care, blending tradition and innovation. The grapes are harvested by hand and then rigorously sorted. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the aromas. Aging occurs in oak barrels, some of which are new, to add further complexity to the wine. This aging process, which lasts approximately 12 months, allows the tannins to harmonize and the wine's structure to be refined, while respecting its unique character.
