The Opus One vineyard is carefully cultivated on gentle slopes, benefiting from optimal sun exposure. The varied soils, composed of silt, clay, and gravel, allow for efficient drainage while retaining the moisture necessary for the vines. The Mediterranean climate, with warm days and cool nights, promotes a slow and harmonious ripening of the grapes. Each plot is cultivated with care, preserving biodiversity and respecting the natural balance. This attention to the terroir is reflected in the exceptional quality of the wines produced.

Owner and history

Today, the Opus One estate is managed by the Rothschild family, who perpetuate the legacy of their founder while also innovating. A passion for excellence and respect for the terroir remain at the heart of their philosophy. The owners are committed to producing wines that tell a story—the story of a place and a tradition—while also looking to the future. This vision, combined with artisanal expertise, ensures Opus One a prominent place among the world's great wines.

Vinification and aging

After a carefully selected, hand-harvested grape selection, the grapes are destemmed and then gently crushed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels, allowing for the extraction of rich aromas while preserving freshness. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, some of which are new, further enhancing the wine's structure and complexity. Opus One is committed to overseeing every step of the process, thus guaranteeing unparalleled quality and precision in its winemaking.
